My bank account woke me up this morning, sobbing the whole time. I hadn’t cheated on it, nor was it particularly starved, but apparently it had read the news and forsaw impending death.

HardOCP acquired the details of the so-called “next-gen” GeForce card, and it’ll be “at least 30% faster than the GeForce 8800 Ultra.” As it stands, no price details have been mentioned, but if the current trend continues, it will likely cost more than an Xbox 360 or PlayStation 3.

The 9800 GX2 is a shrunk-down 65nm 8800 GPU, placed into SLI mode on a single card. Essentially, it’s two cards in one. It will also have the ability to go into Quad SLI mode with another 9800 GX2.

I mulled it over for about 2.5 milliseconds before I decided I will not, in fact, be buying this card. Not only are there very few engaging (read: multiplayer) games on the PC, the ones there are don’t require such high-end hardware. I weep for PC gaming.
